Oh, My Stars & Stripes!

Let the Celebrations Begin

Yes. The 4th of July holiday will be a bit differently this year, but we are thankful for the opportunity to celebrate fun, food, family, and festivities of America's birthday!

Some colors just make your heart happy! The red, white, and blue of summer make us ecstatic! So much so, we drape our home in this trio of color all summer long!

Decorations Are Up

Even our little temporary home was decked out in red, white, and blue for our #GuestHouseQuarantine, so when we returned home to Plano, we went to work getting our Patriotic décor up and ready to celebrate.

Our fireplace mantle is the focal point when you walk through the front door, so we love the effect of these inexpensive paper fans, small flags in vases, and layered buntings.

Now that we've discovered how quickly and easily pompom bunting is to make, we may just have them in every color!

The mantle's balloon arch is from Turtle Creek Lane's July in a Box collection. We liked it so much, we ordered another one from Amazon and added it above the buffet in the dining room.

We love how grouping and layering various collections and inexpensive items can lead to a stunning outcome.

The Table is Set

It was so much fun putting together this 4th of July tablescape! It has a little bit of everything (read: it's EXTRA) as it combines older pieces (the blue Lenox glassware was a wedding present 31 years ago), fun new items (such as the enameled tin plates and Patriotic napkins from Pottery Barn), collections (such as the red Fiesta Ware plates and flatware), DIY placards (Dwayne's watercolor design), pillar candles (we just added Washi tape), and centerpiece, a few Amazon finds (red gingham tablecloth and table runner) and, of course, CONFETTI (it was included in the Amazon balloon arch kit, so that was handy!).

Appetizers, Anyone?

Our red, white, and blue grazing board included smoked gouda, brie, and Somerdale Stilton blueberry cheeses, berries, cherries, watermelon stars, homemade snack mix, candied caramel pecans, and star crackers (made with Pillsbury pie crust, sea salt, and star cookie cutters) and was a perfect prelude for our dinner.

A New Kind of All-American Burger

Our meal consisted of Blueberry Barbecue Stuffed Brie Burgers topped with caramelized onions, crisp bacon, fresh spinach, and mayonnaise served on a Artesano Bakery Bun, Baked Beans, and Baked Potato Salad.

A Sweet Ending

It's always fun to have holiday inspired sweets, but these red, white, and blue goodies really take the cake (Ha! See what we did there)! Our buffet of desserts included Star Spangled Cheesecake Sundaes, Patriotic M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies, Big Red Ice Cream Floats, and Born in the USA Berry Pie.

We hope your 4th of July plans are EXTRAordinary as well! Stay safe, Y'all!
