Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. -Dr. Seuss
You know...sometimes you just need a good ol' fashioned Halloween dinner party. There is no doubt that Halloween 2020 has been out of the ordinary. So it is no wonder that we're feeling a bit nostalgic and longing for a season of simpler times filled with all kinds of orange and black Trick-or-Treating festivities. Our Pretty Scary Vintage Halloween party was a delightful reminder of childhood giggles and goodies, wrapped in the comfort of fun food and fond friendships!
The decade we spent teaching at Mexia High School pays off each October as we set out our collection of black cats, the MHS mascot. We were thrilled this year to find so many of our feline friends in Michael's Halloween collection.
Our tablescape included place settings of jack-o'-lantern dinner ware from Walmart (although it sold out quickly) layered upon our black tableware. We had our orange World Market cloth napkins monogrammed with a black C for the occasion. Handmade watercolor placards, assorted pumpkins and banners, and pompom ribbon tied silverware completed the design.
Who needs expensive decorations when you've got everything you need in your own backyard? Pumpkins, mums, and repurposed old frames painted with vintage designs worked together to create our Pretty Scary Party theme!
Our menu of Pumpkin Baked Brie with Praline Pecans, Chili, Mummy Dogs, and Pumpkin Spice Cake with our Halloween Harvest Mocktail was simple, yet festive. Selecting items that were big on taste, but prepared easily allowed us to relax and enjoy the fun!
We hope you have every opportunity to create precious memories with your loved ones! Be sure to celebrate everything and...
